Questions injured patients ask
-
What kind of doctor should I see after a car accident?
A Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician specializes in nonsurgical diagnosis and treatment of injuries to the spine, muscles, joints and nerves — the injuries most common after a collision.
-
My X-rays were normal, but I still hurt. Why?
X-rays show bones, not soft tissue or nerves. Whiplash, disc and nerve injuries often need a hands-on exam, diagnostic ultrasound or an EMG/nerve study to find the source of pain.
-
My symptoms started days or weeks later. Can I still be seen?
Yes. Delayed pain, stiffness, headaches and numbness are common after accidents. We evaluate and treat symptoms whenever they appear.
-
Do I need an attorney to be treated?
No. You do not need an attorney to be seen. If you already have one, we can coordinate records and documentation with them.
-
Do you treat workers’ compensation injuries?
Yes. We provide work injury evaluations, treatment, independent medical exams and return-to-work assessments.
-
Will I need surgery?
Our focus is nonsurgical care. If your injury needs a surgical opinion, we refer you to an orthopedic or spine surgeon and coordinate your care.
